Our purpose with the creation of Springing is to get citizens engaged in government; voting; voicing their opinions; exercising power. Through Springing you will remember where you came from, your origins. Our site is a place to come into contact with your culture, and learn ways in which you can integrate yourself into that world. Learn about their history and its current events. Bring change to those worlds, via donation sites that directly help certain regions. Learn about the connection between politics and culture.
During this project, I learned how to use Scratch. I learned what sprites were and how to make a game. I also learned how to make a sprite change costumes when you press a button.
During this Scratch project I learned how to change the background colors when I press a button. I also learned how to make sprites disappear when the green flag is pressed. Also, I learned how to make sprites appear when the background is changed. Something interesting that I learned how to do was making the sprites appear to move or walk.
My partner and I decided to remix the original "Space Invaders" by adding three saucers instead of one. These saucers fired back at the spaceship if it tried to attack them. In the original project there was no line of defense, in fact the one saucer that existed in the game, didn't shoot back at the spaceship. We also changed the sprites "costumes" and added a space background because the original game looked too simple and basic. As we worked on this project, I learned how to make a sprite move randomly within a certain area.
While my partner and I worked on our interactive fiction in python, I learned how to indent correctly. In addition, I learned how to use if, elif, and else. During my third year at the UT Prep Summer Camp Program, I learned how to use RStudio, so I used some of my knowledge to make the overall process of creating this interactive fiction easier. For example, I already knew how to print certain phrases, so I assumed that, in Python, the code would look similar as to the RStudio one.
Throughout the academic school year, I have used an abundance of reference websites to guide me as I learn to code. Below are the websites that have helped me with the creation of Scratch, Python, and MITAppInventor games.
